ASTROLOGY FOR THE WEEK OF DEC 14-20 2020

MON DEC 14.

Today begins with a potent New Moon Solar eclipse at 8:17 AM PST, in 23 degrees of Sagittarius. While the second decan of Sagittarius speaks of courage, resilience, determination, and tenacity in the face of contrary forces, and obstacles against the will, the 3rd decan, where this eclipse will take place, represents a completion, as well as a necessary sacrifice or separation that needs to be made in order to achieve the will. This decan of Sagittarius is ruled by the 10 of wands in the Rider Waite tarot, a card that illustrates the difficulties one must endure to complete an act of will. This card merges the sweet tastes of triumph, satisfaction, and victory over obstacles, adversaries, and contrary forces, with the more rooty, salty and bitter tastes of sweat, exhaustion, and sacrifice. The will is very strong here, and with the Moon conjunct the Sun and Mercury, and trine Mars, the mind, feelings, passions, and the will are aligned with intention, and have confronted all obstacles of resistance or impediments to the execution of the will, and now comes the last round of the marathon, where the necessary sacrifices are made to reach the summit. This “sacrifice” is embodied by the solar and lunar squares to Neptune. This, combined with the eclipse in the final decan of Sagittarius can see a secretly somber tone, even in the face of imminent victory. Something is being released here but what is being gained in exchange for this sacrifice is an authentic alignment of the spiritual will, far greater freedom, joy, expansion, and an upgrade in consciousness, feeling, vibration, passion, and motivation for growth and achievement. But first, something or someone must be let go of, and a lunar sesquisquare to Uranus suggests that although challenging to a certain degree, a release of control ultimately liberates the will to come more into alignment with it’s destiny. For some, this can be a release of outworn emotional patterns, for others, outworn attachments or patterns of relating to self and others that are limiting growth and deeper levels of fulfillment, achievement, joy, optimism, and abundance on a soul level. With Venus in Scorpio having put us in touch with the underbellies of our instinctual natures and authentic passions and desires via a highly experimental and exploratory process that was facilitated by her opposition to unorthodox Uranus, she moves into adventurous Sagittarius tomorrow to more fully embark upon this new terrain. This being said, this eclipse could most certainly have an interpersonal element, and the transformations taking place in this realm can have a huge impact on our consciousness, development, and vibrational alignment. The Moon enters stoic and sober Capricorn at 7:35 PM PST, squaring Chiron in Aries, and forming a trine to Uranus in Taurus. Structural changes going on interpersonally and emotionally can be very exciting on the one hand, but can also have some people feeling vulnerable, exposed, or a bit raw. The Moon in Capricorn trine to Uranus speaks of the need to lay down some emotional boundaries in order to break with a status quo pattern and pursue fresh and enlivening directions that will represent the building blocks of new emotional foundations. This is going to be quite a download and psychic/emotional growth spurt.

TUES DEC 15.

This morning see’s the Moon in serious Capricorn trine Uranus and square Chiron, while Venus enters adventurous, gregarious, growth and learning oriented Sagittarius at 8:21 AM PST, in trine to Chiron in Aries, (which stations direct today), while still sextile to Saturn and Jupiter. This energy can best be described as an energetic disentanglement process on the one hand, and a sort of break for freedom to choose an interpersonal and/or financial path that takes us in a direction that is more in alignment with our authentic desires, growth, healing, development, -and our souls desire to more fully self actualize. It's a very "visceral" download and "upgrades" to assimilate, with some very "physical" components. Powerful manifestation energy for sure. It's as if the universe is making sure everyone is in vibrational alignment with the gifts that Jupiter and Saturn in Capricorn are leaving at the door for them before they change signs. Chiron stationing direct opens a more clear channel for healing, and can assist with bringing us back into the present, making it easier to see defense mechanisms, insecurities, unhealed wounds, and emotional coping strategies that have outworn their usefulness, and have become forms of self sabotage that interfere with our healing, growth, and capacity for courage and self belief. The Sun, Mercury, and Mars have been aligning the will in this healing direction for a while now, and now Venus, the planet of love, relationships, money, values, beauty, creativity and pleasure joins the bogus journey. The afternoon see’s the lunar/Chiron tensions relent, which can take the edge off of the more vulnerable feelings that can tend to accompany an increased requirement for courage and faith in ourselves and in life. Early evening see’s the Moon in Capricorn make a semi square to Venus freshly in Sagittarius, a square to Mars in Aries, a sextile to Neptune in Pisces, and a conjunction to Pluto. This can see an increased resolve and push in a new direction, a compassionate or cathartic release, implicit understanding, or a softening of boundaries, with a compassionate affirmation of them elsewhere. The nitty gritty of yet another phase of an ongoing transformation process is underway, and each Capricorn lunation marks another “push” up the mountain. Tomorrow looks set to be an intense, driven and focused day, so the evening hours of tonight are ideal for planning, reflection, envisioning and imagining. This is also good energy for constructive forms of creativity, manifestation, and aligning with our intentions and visions. There can also be some intense discussions or spiritual breakthroughs.

WED DEC 16.

Today can begin on a focused and determined note, with the Moon squaring Mars, and conjunct Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto in disciplined Capricorn. There can be a lot of energy to get things done, and the physical/somatic drives can be strong, although take care to avoid being impatient, crotchety or intolerant. With self control, this energy is a steamroller and can accomplish a lot. With the Sun and Mercury both trine to Mars on top of the lunar/Mars square, there can be a lot of communications, and people trying to talk other people around to their point of view. It’s rather futile however, because under these alignments, people want what they want, have already decided on a course of action, and they’re implementing it. The end. If you find yourself caught up in longwinded discussions where you’re feeling a need to convince others into being ok with you doing whatever it is you have to do, or defend your position or feelings, and it gets you irritated, let your actions do the talking for you and just quietly be about your plan, whatever it is. Conversely, these configurations may just see a whole lot of enthusiasm around putting new ideas or endeavors into motion, but intense discussions are a definite possibility, and people might be navigating subtle or not so subtle conflicts of interests or pressure from multiple angles. This energy doesn’t have to be a bad thing, it's quite a catalyst, -but the Moon in Capricorn is more of a doer than a talker. With the G.O.A.T stellium in full swing, it's out to get RESULTS, (in ALL CAPS) -especially so as Saturn and Jupiter are conjunct at the most urgent, final degree of the stoic sea goat. Around 8:43 PM PST, the Moon, Saturn and Jupiter perfect a very intense conjunction all in 29 degrees Capricorn. Pluto is involved in this conjunction too, but not by degree. Perhaps the universe decided that would be a little *too* much power. This occurs while the Moon also makes sextiles to Venus in Sagittarius, and Juno, the relationship asteroid, in 29 degrees Scorpio. Needless to say, it’ll be interesting to note WTF is going on around 8:45 PM PST tonight, because this looks pretty significant, particularly so for relationships with others. The most significant thing this evening however, comes at 9:04 PM PST, when Saturn, planet of mastery, discipline, wisdom and hard knocks, enters humanitarian, free thinking, future oriented, and unorthodox Aquarius. Jupiter will follow suit on Saturday Dec 19. This Grand Conjunction gives us a leg up, kicking off Saturns 2 and a half year journey through Aquarius by handing us an opportunity, -along with the responsibility to truly value and appreciate it for everything that it’s worth.  In the simplest of terms, Saturns sojourn through Aquarius asks that we rise to the challenge of mastering our future. Our individual futures, and our collective future. Some of you are officially kicking off your Saturn return at this time. Congratulations on this right of passage. Saturn in Capricorn has helped us learn more about our relationship to, and definitions of authority, power, time and it’s tested wisdoms. Saturn in Aquarius will help us learn more about our relationship to and definitions of experimentation, justice, freedom, humanitarianism, and rebellion. What IS “normal” anyway? The house in your whole house natal chart that is ruled by Aquarius will be an area that will host a controlled expansion and an experimental process that will have long term implications into the future. As with any planetary shift, Saturn’s will certainly be felt today. At first, because Saturn sticks it’s toes into Aquarius ahead of generous and benevolent Jupiter, it may feel intimidating. But by this weekend, Jupiter will arrive to hold our hand and walk us through the first year of this transit. Tonight, at 10:27 PM PST, the Moon enters Aquarius as well, and these alignments actually signify some profound shifts, individually, collectively, socially, and interpersonally. It’s almost as if a doll house is being shook out and rearranged, as the Moon in Aquarius squares Uranus in Taurus, sextile Venus in Sagittarius, and Juno in 29 degrees of Scorpio. This can see some pretty radical or experimental shifts or approaches happening socially, interpersonally, and/or financially, at the behest of us following our deepest instincts. Because Juno, the relationship asteroid is in 29 degrees of Scorpio, whatever shifts in alliances are happening now, it was inevitable. There is a fated quality to these configurations that remind me of the words of Marcus Aurelius: “Accept the things to which fate binds you, and love the people with whom fate brings you together, but do so with all your heart.” In other words, by simply accepting them and allowing them the freedom to be who they are.

THUR DEC 17.

Today is highlighted by the Moon in unorthodox Aquarius squaring up to Uranus in tactile, money bags Taurus, and this can see people requiring room to maneuver as they adjust to huge changes in their practical realities, values, assets, self worth, their relationship to money, earned income, possessions, and even to their body and physicality. Minor tense aspects from the Moon to the Sun and Mercury in Sagittarius suggests an attempt to gain some perspective on the feelings. The Moon in Aquarius has a difficult time trusting the feelings or completely surrendering to them. There may be some outmoded beliefs or judgements that are holding us back or preventing us from fully embracing or surrendering to our own authentic experiences or feelings non judgmentally. Conversely, this can also see us breaking free of limiting circumstances, asserting our freedom, or standing our ground in circumstances or dynamics that are contrary to our true will. This influence doesn’t last, but can see the first portion of the day feel a bit harder to express ourselves, or could see a challenge to find a balance between head and heart, or our true will and that of certain others . Really, there’s just been a lot of change to adapt to all at once, so a chance to gain a higher perspective on “how to drive this thing” could be precisely what’s needed. With some perspective and arm chair philosophizing, and in some cases, declarations of independence from certain constraints, it should be easier to feel at home with the changes that honoring and befriending our deeper instincts has required of us. The lunar square to Uranus can see the emotions a bit up and down, easily excitable, or simply very surprising, new, or unlike anything previously experienced before. Perhaps there’s some highly unusual or unprecedented circumstances, situations, or dynamics going on. This aspect can see a lot of nervous energy, or energy could come in fits and starts, in unstable intervals, or at weirds times. There can be unexpected happenings, even some strokes of unusual genius or insight. It’s possible we could do or try something out of the ordinary for us, or something we aren’t accustomed to, or learning something completely new or foreign to us, in preparation for heading into alien terrain, or terrain that we haven’t visited in a while. This could be literal or figurative. Either way, ch ch ch changes…

THE WEEKEND:

FRI DEC 18-SUN DEC 20.

Friday morning see’s the Moon in experimental Aquarius sextile Mars in Aries which the Sun and Mercury in mind expanding Sagittarius both hold a trine to. The relationship asteroid Juno also enters into adventure seeking Sagittarius this morning at 9:25 AM PST to conjoin Venus, and this can encourage us to follow our curiosity and feel more courage to explore new, uncharted terrain. The Moon goes on to sextile the Sun and Mercury which can put a spotlight on communications, learning, study, broadcasting, and overall exploration. This looks like an active, talkative, and even amusing day that seems to indicate new initiatives, dynamics, projects, situations or environments that could be unlike anything we’ve ever done or experienced before. It’s like we’re entering alien territory, and with Juno and Venus meeting up, this could have an interpersonal/relational or collaborative element. Either way, we could feel supported in whatever we’re embarking on now, no matter how weird or unusual it is. Saturday Dec 19 see’s the Moon in psychically sensitive Pisces conjoining compassionate Neptune can have us feeling things more vividly. Perhaps the rapid fire pace of certain interpersonal, emotional and/or economic/financial changes one after another sees us craving some time out or reflection to explore certain emotions and process certain endings and new beginnings. Eclipse season be like that sometimes. It might not be easy to express or articulate our feelings out loud, but the Moon in Pisces makes us feel less inhibited about exploring new or unusual feelings or experiences privately, in order to embrace a transformation and emotional renewal. Sunday Dec 20th carries on this dreamy, restful, artsy, downtempo vibe, and in the evening, see’s a lunar sextile to Pluto, which can see the emotional states carry a powerful momentum or increase the intensity to which things are felt or perceived, but can also bring us in touch with our own power over circumstances that might feel out of our control, or simply produce highly unusual but impactful experiences, aesthetics, and feelings. Mercury also enters grounded and serious Capricorn today, which precedes the Winter Solstice and the Sun's entrance here tomorrow. Bringing certain dreams down to reality can be a focus through this transition, and this weekend can represent a sort of visualization, preparation and release process. We can be very impressionable to our environment but can also make a very strong impression upon it as well. Very creative, dreamy, and imaginative energy.
